Management Information

Without a well designed and developed management plan measuring, reporting and controlling the critical elements of an organization, it is rather similar to attempting to negotiate difficult terrain blindfolded. A plan on its own, however, will not ensure success – it requires execution by people skilled and experienced in the area of operation. Even the best plans will require adaptation from time to time.
Critical also to have relevant information timeously. Consider the analogy: would you like to know the extent of the damage and injuries after an accident, or would you prefer to be warned that an accident can occur and be able to avoid it? Major problems can be avoided through trend analysis: In many modern vehicles fuel consumption display and prediction of fuel range left is a very useful tool – especially if refuelling points are few and far apart. However, information on your heart rate will be of little help, even if it is provided every 10 seconds, to assist planning to refuel your vehicle.
